Digging for Treasure

Being that jewellery is 50% off, with my limited math skills, this means, you can buy twice as much. Feel free to use this rationalization yourself.

Ever notice someone who looks inexplicably stunning? Can't stop staring at them? Then your eyes land on the stunning silver necklaces or bracelets they've chosen. This can be attributed to the correct TCC (tone, contrast and color) choices.  I believe people generally are drawn to what works best on them. For example contrasting with the hair color can be very eye catching. When in doubt however, Plum staff are very well versed in TCC.

Consider all the great real estate around your neck, waiting for the next glorious piece. Never before has there been such a wide variety of styles..bohemian, glam, minimal...so many great things to try. Above, this beautiful turqoise color mixed with the silver etching adds just enough interest to the outfit.

Change the look of your blouse by adding a statement piece. Works as well with jeans and t shirt, or a jean jacket and skirt. So convertible! (like a mood).

Speaking of jeans and t-shirts, doesn't get much simpler than this incredible ecclectic mix. Like found pieces on a beach trip. Feel free to embellish your story with 'I found these great pieces on a beach and made them myself'. Or you could be generous and tell them you found them at Plum....on sale.

Unfortunately, don't expect to pan for real gold at Plum. However, real treasures need not make a significant dent in your budget. Discover the bewildering choices until July 20th.

Yours in (sparking) Fashion Passion

Belts and necklaces are wonder accessories. Not only do they tailor, polish, accent an outfit, but they also create focal points to draw the eye. Using them skillfully can help highlight and balance your proportions.

Image

When you are adding these finishing touches to your look, adjust a long necklace so that the point of interest meets a balance point.  Not only will someone’s eye be drawn to the details, but it will also imply a vertical line on your torso and create length. On the other hand, a short necklace will keep the eye around the neckline.

Image

Place a belt where it makes more sense for your proportions.  For instance, if you have a long waist with shorter legs, you may want to create balance by wearing your belt at the balance point closest to your natural waistline. The belt creates a horizontal line dividing your body in two, and placing a belt higher on your body will elongate your bottom half to create more balance.  If you have a short torso, wear your belt so that it meets a balance point further down on your hip.

By understanding your body’s proportions, you can effectively create focal points where your proportions will balance. In the end, your outfit will look more harmonious.

Accessorize

Although the Christmas season has many virtues (read: hot beverages on cold nights, time spent with loved ones, baked goods out the wazoo, and Boxing Day shopping), there's no denying that it can be a stressful time too. Between a hectic schedule, traveling, and a to-do list that sometimes seems to be on the verge of out of control, we have to remind ourselves to take time just for us. And, dare I say it, treat ourselves once in a while? Coincidentally, we'll be announcing another exciting giveaway tomorrow on our Facebook page. Because hey, we like to treat you too.

So what better time for a sale? Now until December 24th, you'll receive 25% off all accessories (excluding Hue hosiery and socks - but you know you're getting socks for Christmas anyway, so no biggy).

A sale like this is a great time to kill two birds with one stone - stock up on gifts and stocking stuffers for the people on your list AND reward yourself for maintaining your sanity. Win-win, friends!

So what do you think? How are you taking time for yourself this busy holiday season?

And don't forget: our ever-popular Kersh open cardigans are still on special - $39 each when you buy two or more! For tips and ideas of how to style them, check out this recent blog post.
